Ada Township

Ada Twp is located several miles to the east of Grand Rapids, Michigan and is lucky enough to have the Grand River and the Thornapple River flowing through it. Ada Twp’s history goes back to 1821 when Rix Robinson obtained a French-Canadian Trading Post at the junction of the Thornapple and Grand Rivers. A village was platted in 1858 at the mouth of the Thornapple but it never developed. The Ada Covered Bridge (pictured above) is one of 9 covered bridges still standing in the state and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ada Twp has a total area of ~37 square miles of which 1 mile of that is water and is known for it’s beautiful woodland terrain, it’s numerous streams and meadows and it’s excellent school system. The Forest Hills school system is one of the highest rated school systems in the region and has competitive scholastic and sports programs.

Ada Township Trails and Parks

Ada Township is blessed with a lovely rolling woodland terrain and incorporates many parks and trails. The Paul Henry Trail is a multi-use 42 mile recreation trail that is mapped out from Grand Rapids to Vermontville on a former railroad corridor. The Thornapple Trail will follow along the scenic Thornapple River and will pass through lush woodlands and farmlands while crossing over rivers and creeks. The trail is enjoyed by all including bikers, runners, walkers, cross-country skiers, nature lovers and roller bladers.

Siedman Park boasts some of the best walking and hiking trails in Ada. In the winter it is also a popular cross-country skiing destination with 3 trails totalling nearly 6 miles. The trails are designated for intermediate and expert skiers.

Chief Hazy Cloud Park is an excellent spot to try Smallmouth Bass fishing! 22 acres of family fun with facilities including picnic areas and restrooms.

Ada Township Golf Courses

Egypt Valley Country Club at 7333 Knapp St in NE Ada is one of the premier Golf Courses in the nation. The rolling hills close to the Grand River is a prime and scenic location for this championship calibre golf course. Egypt Valley offers 5 tees on each hole allowing golfers to play from 5000 to 7000 yards on 36 different holes. Natural areas, wetland areas offer a pictuesque and challenging day on the links. Egypt Valley also features a state of the art clubhouse with all of the amenities including year round food service.
